Day 11: September 18th 2008 - KEY TERMS

Bid- This is the highest price that a buyer is willing to pay for a stock

NASDAQ-
This is a stock exchange consisting primarily of technology companies

Stock- This is the smallest measurable unit of ownership in a company.

Book Value- This is the value of a company if assets and common stock equity are added together and all liabilities are subtracted.

Broker- A person who buys or sells stocks, bonds, commodities and such in exchange for a fee which is called commission

Shares-
is a unit of account for various financial instruments including stocks, mutual funds, limited partnerships, and REIT's

RETI- Real Estate Investment Trust
Dividend- A taxable payment declared by a company's board of directors

Face Value- The cash denomination of the individual debt instrument. It is the amount of money that the holder of a debt instrument receives back from the issuer on the debt instrument's maturity date. Face value is also referred to as par value or principal.

Investment- The purchase or ownership of a security in order to earn income, capital or both. Investments may also include artwork, antiques and real estate.
